La Closerie de Fourtet 2021 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

La Closerie de Fourtet 2021 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

The nose is fruity, velvety, spicy, nicely structured and offers a fine concentration as well as deepness. We find notes of violet, bright blackberry and small notes of small juicy roasted red fruits associated with touches of star anise, small blue plum as well as fine hints of Sichuan pepper, infusion and a very discreet almost saffron hint (in its floral side) in the background. The palate is nicely mineral, elegant, harmonious and offers energy, suppleness, roundness, a textured side, a beautiful definition as well as a slight creaminess in freshness/finesse. Nice brilliance and freshness of the fruit. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy blackberry, small pulpy blue fruits and small notes of bright raspberry associated with touches of fleshy/pulpy cherry as well as hints of star anise, fresh blond tobacco, fine sappy hints and discreet hints of caramelization (in the background). Good length. A subtle hint of tonka bean in the background. Tannins are sapid and discreetly mellow. A beautiful texture on the finish.
