Josetta Saffirio Barolo Perno 2020 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color, with slight garnet reflections. The nose is aromatic, spicy and roasted, with very delicate tertiary notes of faded rose and faded peony. It also expresses aromas of sweet spices (cubeb pepper, nutmeg, liquorice), crushed strawberry, macerated red cherry, morello cherry, blackberry and red plum, combined with a hint of roasting (toasted wood in the background, toasted almond), as well as dark chocolate in the background and roasted herbs (roasted thyme and rosemary). The palate is fruity and enveloping, with cocoa tannins, slightly bitter and fine. It expresses notes of macerated red cherry, crushed strawberry, crushed raspberry, morello cherry and blackberry, combined with sweet spices (nutmeg, cumin, liquorice), flowers (dried rose, faded peony), as well as a hint of roasting (toasted wood, toasted hazelnut) which returns on the persistence with a good bitterness of grapefruit. Good length and a lively acidity. A structured and concentrated wine.
