Joseph Phelps – Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 – Napa Valley

Joseph Phelps – Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 – Napa Valley

(91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot, 1% Malbec and 1% Cabernet Franc) The nose is elegant and fine. It reveals notes of blackberry, raspberry and cassis combined with touches of raspberry balsamic as well as slight notes of licorice, cigar box, wood and sweet spices (especially vanilla). The palate is fruity, fat, mineral, balanced and offers a nice matter, a good structure and a small acid frame (in the background). In the mouth this wine expresses notes of blackberry and black cherry combined with small notes of red fruit (strawberry, raspberry) in the background as well as slight notes of black fruit cream and chocolate. Tannins are fine, elegant, racy and slightly firm (wait 18/24 months). Good length.
