Jericho Canyon Vineyard – Chimera 2015 – Napa Valley

The nose is fruity, gourmand, elegant, slightly powerful and offers a slight concentration (in the background). It reveals notes of black cherry, crème de cassis and slight touches of fresh / ripe blackberry, spices associated with a discreet touch of tobacco as well as subtle hint of Sichuan pepper (in background) and very discreet hint of toasted almond (in the background). The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a beautiful freshness, a good definition, a good acid frame as well as a slight concentration. On the palate this wine expresses notes of cassis, wild blackberry and touches of crushed strawberry combined with subtle touches of dark chocolate powder, a very discreet touch of caramelization, vanilla, violet as well as subtle touches of plum / violet and discreet touches of gray pepper. Tannins are fine and slightly firm. Good length and good persistence. (2020+)
