Jean-Max Roger La Côte de Bué 2018 – Sancerre

Jean-Max Roger La Côte de Bué 2018 – Sancerre

The wine has a lemon yellow color, of medium intensity, with golden reflections. The nose is fragrant and expresses integrated and pleasant tertiary notes. We find notes of linden honey, chestnut honey, beeswax, dried flowers (dried linden, dried chamomile), a hint of wet leaves, wilted flowers and white truffle in the background. After aeration, the wine offers aromas of fresh lemon zest, dried lemon peel, fresh bitter orange, candied grapefruit, mango, passion fruit and fresh pineapple, combined with delicate spicy aromas (ground clove, nutmeg, saffron, fresh vanilla in the background), as well as touches of fresh hazelnut, toasted hazelnut and fresh bitter almond. The palate is excessive, complex and savoury. The attack offers freshness and youth in its flavors of yellow fruits (crushed yellow peach, apricot, mirabelle plum), associated with integrated notes of development (chestnut honey with its good bitterness, beeswax, wilted flowers, wet leaves and white nose). We also find the flavors of candied grapefruit, candied lemon zest, fresh lime zest, roasted green apple, a touch of torrefaction (toasted hazelnut, toasted bitter almond, a hint of toasted wood and caramelized brioche). The finish is long, elegant, with refined spicy notes of saffron, nutmeg and cloves. Good bitterness of chestnut honey and lime jam on the finish. Great persistencem freshness and elegance. A wine with great complexity and potential.
