Hommage du Château Lamartine 2022 – Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux

The nose is woody and initially expresses notes of toast, fresh wood, vanilla, cinnamon, fresh hazelnut, toasted almond, chocolate, and more slightly – coconut. The fruity aromas open up more on the second nose and offer maturity and concentration. We find notes of juicy red fruits: wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, red plum, as well as ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, black plum, morello cherry, blackberry), accompanied by spicy touches of white pepper and licorice, as well as a delicate floral hint (cornflower, peony). On the palate, the attack is juicy and fruity. We find flavors of morello cherry, black plum, strawberry, red cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry, complemented by notes of dark chocolate, bitter cocoa, a spicy hint of licorice, vanilla and cloves, as well as a fresh herbaceous (dried mint) and floral notes (violet, peony, more lightly – rose). Very good persistence on the palate and a nice complexity on the finish, accompanied by a salivating acidity. The tannic structure is well constructed: it is firm, but has a velvety and quite delicate texture. A wine of elegance and balance which will develop in the coming years.
