Hewitt Vineyard – Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 – Napa Valley

The nose is aromatic, powerful, elegant, racy and offers a beautiful finesse of the grain as well as delicacy. It reveals notes of cassis, undergrowth and small notes of blackberry, wild strawberry associated with small touches of ripe redcurrants, spices, tobacco, cardamom as well as discreet hints of fresh leather. The palate is fruity, elegant, well-balanced, silky and offers a beautiful definition, a beautiful suavity, finesse, a beautiful fresh frame, a beautiful structure as well as a very slight tension. On the palate this wine expresses notes of black cherry, crushed cassis and small notes of black plum associated with small touches of undergrowth, mushroom, ripe / crushed red fruits as well as slight toasted hints, almond, tonka bean, tobacco, a very discreet hint of leather, menthol and an imperceptible touch of fresh sap. Tannins are fine and very slightly chewy. Good length. Presence of a touch of cocoa and hazelnut / almond persistence (brings gourmandise). A beautiful wine!
