Giacosa Fratelli, Scarrone Vigna Mandorlo Riserva 2018 – Barolo

Giacosa Fratelli, Scarrone Vigna Mandorlo Riserva 2018 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color with light garnet reflections. The nose is delicately perfumed and harmoniously combines tertiary notes, spices, flowers and the gourmandise of its fruits. It expresses light notes of undergrowth, faded rose, dried tobacco, a savoury spiciness (liquorice, nutmeg, white pepper, a very light note of vanilla in the background), a bouquet of fresh flowers (lilac, peony), aromas of fresh herbs (wild mint, sage, rosemary), a gourmet touch of chocolate with mint, toasted hazelnut and toasted wood and enveloped in a juicy fruitiness (red cherry, wild strawberry, blueberry wild, a touch of blackberry and morello cherry). The palate is juicy, with a fresh, fruity and gourmand attack, which is completed in the mid-palate by savoury notes of sweet spices (nutmeg, licorice, white pepper, ground cumin), harmoniously integrated tertiary touches (rose faded, undergrowth), a hint of cocoa and torrefaction (toasted wood, toasted hazelnut), as well as herbaceous notes (dried sage, dried mint) and fresh flowers (lilac, peony). The fruits on the palate are ripe (morello cherry, strawberry, red cherry, cranberries, blueberry), with a hint of dried fruit (dried cherry, dried blackcurrant). The tannins are fine, well-structured and firm, but not drying. Beautiful salivating and refreshing acidity. The finish is long, gourmand and sapid and offers precision, good bitterness as well as a touch of bitter cocoa. An excessive, refined and balanced wine.
