George Washington’s – Straight Rye Whiskey – Historic Recipe

(year 2023 B, Bottle 589) The nose is aromatic, gourmand, round and offers a fine straightness as well as a nice roundness, precision and finesse in its grain. We find notes of Zante current, caramelized orange zest and small notes of marmalade associated with touches of rancio, tobacco, a subtle hint of smoke, fine hints of crème brûlée as well as a discreet hint of lychee and cooked apple. The palate is fruity and offers juiciness, a nice tangy frame, minerality, a good definition, precision, tension as well as a nice structure in finesse, roundness and gourmandise. On the palate this Whiskey expresses notes of cooked apple, Zante currante and slight notes of dried fig associated with touches of crème brûlée, toasted hints, tobacco as well as a subtle hint of smoke, tarte tatin (in the background) and caramelization.
