G.D. Vajra Luigi Baudana 2021 – Barolo

(organic) The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose offers an airy and fragrant floral bouquet (rose, peony, violet), associated with herbaceous notes of black tea, dried mint, as well as a tangy fruity material (cranberries, red cherry, crushed raspberry, garnet). There are also spicy touches of liquorice, crushed cardamom, white pepper and tonka bean, complemented by a mineral (limestone) and roasted (toasted hazelnut, coffee) hint. The palate is refined, airy, with a fruity and tangy attack. It expresses the flavors of red cherry, cranberries, tangy raspberry and garnet, combined with a touch of limestone minerality, a roasted side (coffee, toasted almond), notes of sweet spices (liquorice, grilled vanilla, tonka), as well as a herbaceous hint of dried peppermint, bergamot tea and blackcurrant leaves in the background. Tannins are young, firm, even astringent. The finish is long, tangy and salivating. A firm wine, which offers verticality and precision.
