Franz Hirtzberger – Riesling Smaragd 2005 – Spitz / Donau – Wachau

Franz Hirtzberger – Riesling Smaragd 2005 – Spitz / Donau – Wachau

The nose is fine, crystalline, elegant, clean and offers a beautiful finesse, a fine intensity, precision and a fine gourmandise. It reveals notes of quince, peach compote and discreet hints of beeswax combined with a subtle hint of candied tangerine as well as an imperceptible hint of flowers and pepper (in the background). The wine needs time to open. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, slightly tight and offers a fine juiciness, fat, a fine suavity, a certain tension, precision, “clean”, a fine unctuosity, power, a nice matter, a slight sweetness and a fine gourmandise. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of ripe / juicy lemon and fine notes of quince associated with hints of ripe / crushed apple as well as a subtle hint of exotic fruits and beeswax. Good length.
