Ettore Sammarco – Pietri di Tramonti 2017 – Costa d’Amalfi DOC

The nose offers power in harmony, intensity in mastery/precision, aerial side, a pretty stretchiness, multilayered and racy profile. It expresses the notes of bigarreau cherry, dense black cassis and small black berries/juniper berries, associated with touches of crushed strawberry, rhubarb as well as hints of roasted red berries, associated with a nice touch of warm sap/hot pine, as well as discreet hints of iodine/saline, almost stony as well as hints of violet, thyme flowers and a subtle hint of black pepper. The palate is fruity and offers minerality, elegance, power, a rustic/frank profile and at the same time, racy, a nice definition, depth, delicacy and power. It expresses notes of bright black plum, dense/concentrated black berries and small notes of juniper berries, combined with touches of crushed raspberry, roasted blue berries as well as fine hints of camphor, sage, thyme, black olive, blueberry, chocolate and a subtle hint of almost coffee/torrefaction and an almost orange hint in the background and an imperceptible hint almost of crushed cocoa, crushed roasted almond. The tannins are precise, supple, racy, frank, powerful, but elegant and savoury.
