Ettore Germano, Vignarionda 2019 – Barolo

Ettore Germano, Vignarionda 2019 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is discreet at first and requires aeration. It then offers delicacy and a juicy fruitiness (notes of wild strawberry, red cherry, crushed raspberry, crushed blackcurrant, wild blueberry), associated with a delicate spiciness (blackcurrant pepper, white pepper, nutmeg, a subtle touch of fresh vanilla in the background), a refined floral bouquet (lilac, dried rose, cornflower), as well as a hint of fresh tobacco, peppermint, rosemary and a very discreet touch of wet leaves in the background. On the palate, we find notes of crunchy strawberry, fresh raspberry, tangy red cherry, cranberries and wild blueberry, as well as sweet spices (nutmeg, cloves, a touch of vanilla), bitter chocolate and floral bouquet(faded rose, lilac, cornflower), complemented by a mineral touch (tar in the background). The tannins are tight and drying in the finish, but balanced by a salivating acidity, as well as gourmand chocolate notes and a powdery hint of cocoa, which we find in the finish. Good persistence, with a slight bitterness and smokiness of bergamot. A gourmand, structured and firm wine, which needs time.
