Ettore Germano, Prapò 2020 – Barolo

Ettore Germano, Prapò 2020 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is reserved and requires airation. It then expresses rather discreet spicy notes (nutmeg, liquorice, a touch of dried vanilla in the background), delicate herbaceous and floral touches (dried mint, rose, cornflower), as well as fresh fruits (wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, wild blueberry, a touch of blackberry and red plum) and a hint of dried chocolate cherry in the background, as well as a hint of torrefaction (coffee) and a delicate minerality (limestone, a hint of graphite). The mouth is gourmand and more expressive than the nose. It offers notes of ripe fruit, with slight hints of dried fruit (ripe morello cherry, wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, dried strawberry, a hint of plum, even prunes, with chocolate), sweet spices (nutmeg, dried vanilla, a touch of white pepper and cinnamon in the background), flowers (a touch of wilted rose, lilac, lily), as well as dried wild herbs, coffee and cocoa. The finish is persistent, sapid and expresses good bitterness, as well as notes of roasted aromatic herbs, tobacco and dried flowers which add to the complexity of the wine. Good persistence and a lively, refreshing acidity.
