Ettore Germano Barolo Lazzarito 2019 – Barolo Riserva

The wine has a pale ruby color, with slight garnet reflections. The nose offers concentration, a certain density, while remaining airy. It opens with notes of evolution: dried rose, faded flowers, undergrowth, dry tobacco, as well as a hint of tar in the background. Then, we find notes of dried mint, infused tea and blackcurrant leaf, associated with sweet spices (cardamom, nutmeg, licorice) and fruits (macerated red cherry, morello cherry, dried red cherry, a hint of prunes, roasted strawberry, crushed raspberry, blackcurrant). The palate is savoury, with an open and fruity attack (morello cherry, macerated red cherry, crushed raspberry, crushed strawberry, roasted blackcurrant), with less pronounced tertiary notes than on the nose (tobacco, undergrowth, faded flowers), but return on the persistence. There are also notes of sweet spices (nutmeg, cardamom, liquorice), a good bitterness of coffee, as well as a hint of citrus (bergamot) and roasting (toasted bitter almond). The finish is persistent, tangy, pleasantly bitter, more tertiary than the mid-palate. Tannins are polished, but quite firm and give the wine a solid structure. Complexity, suppleness and firmness in this wine.
