Estell & Rodolphe Cognard, Cuvée «Les Tuffes» 2021 – Bourgueil

Estell & Rodolphe Cognard, Cuvée «Les Tuffes» 2021 – Bourgueil

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is silky, racy, with precise mineral notes, associated with juicy fruity matter. It expresses the aromas of wild strawberries, wild blueberries, red currants, elderberry, raspberry coulis, a mineral, limestone and clay touch, a very delicate note of white pepper, as well as a pleasant herbaceous hint (wild mint, blackcurrant leaf in the background) and fine floral notes (wild flowers). On the palate, the wine is straight, with an attack expressing its racy tannic structure, even a bit tight and slightly bitter. Then, the tangy fruity notes (red cherry, strawberry, crushed raspberry, crushed blueberry) and a fresh and salivating acidity balance the tannic structure. We also find notes of fresh morello cherry and crushed blackcurrant, cut wild mint and fresh field flowers, as well as a touch of pepper in the background. A refined wine, with a gourmand nose, a beautiful structure and acidity on the palate, good persistence and a chalky and racy minerality.
