Esprit de Basté 2020 – Madiran

The wine has a deep ruby color with purplish reflections. It has a fruity bouquet, with integrated and pleasant herbaceous notes. A bit reserved on the first nose (the wine needs aeration), the wine then expresses notes of red cherry, morello cherry, quetsche plum, blackberry, as well as cranberries and elderberry. The herbaceous side is expressed in notes of fresh tobacco leaf, fresh bay leaf and black tea. On the palate, the attack is tight, with a slight bitterness, then the wine expresses notes of tangy red and black fruits (blackcurrant, morello cherry, cranberries, tangy red cherry). The tannins are firm, grippy, a bit rough, softened by a lively mouthwatering acidity. The finish is quite long and fruity. A wine with the freshness and purity of fruit, with a strong tannic structure and a lot of tension.
