Edmond Cornu & Fils Côte de Nuits-Villages 2021 – Côte de Nuits-Villages

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is expressive, spicy and smoky, with a touch of roasted meat, which disappears after aeration and becomes rather spicy and chocolatey. We find notes of wild strawberries, crushed raspberries, cranberry jam, red currant jelly and morello cherries, combined with a distinct spiciness (liquorice, grated nutmeg, gray pepper and cloves), with notes of flowers (dried rose, dried wildflowers, violet, lily), roasted notes (smoked, toasted) and a touch of dried rosemary. The palate is juicy and savoury, fruity and spicy. It expresses a roasted side in attack (roasted cherry, roasted bouquet garni, roasted coriander seeds), associated with notes of ripe fruit (morelo cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, cranberry jam), sweet spices (liquorice, cumin, gray pepper), dried rosemary and flowers (dried rose, wild flowers, lily). Good persistence on the palate, with ripe fruit and a hint of mint. Nice acidity, lots of flavors and a good bitterness on the finish and soft tannins.
