The nose is spicy, peppery and reveals some varietal character. There are notes of violet plum, Bigarreau cherry and, more lightly, rose, combined with hints of local/terroir earth, fine hints of fresh tobacco and a subtle hint of star anise and olive tree. The palate is fruity, tightly wound and offers minerality, juiciness, suavity, tension and energy. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crisp cherry, juicy wild berries and a hint of pepper combined with hints of violet, lily and fine pepper and mocha. Racy tannins. Good length. A very discreet hint of peony (in the background).
