The wine has a medium ruby colour. The nose offers a lot of concentration, an intense fruity character as well as a mineral and graphite touch in the background. It expresses ripe red and black fruit notes (wild strawberry, Morello cherry, blueberry, blackberry, fresh blackcurrant, Bigarreau cherry), accompanied by fine herbaceous touches of blackcurrant leaf, peppermint, chopped rosemary branch and a delicate sappy note. There are also subtle roasted notes (coffee, toast), chocolate and spices in the background (liquorice, cloves, star anise). On the palate, the wine expresses power, depth and concentrated flavours of red and black fruits (Morello cherry, blackberry, wild strawberry, blueberry, blackcurrant, raspberry coulis, redcurrant jam), as well as pronounced but integrated spice notes (black pepper, cinnamon, liquorice, clove). There are also herbal touches of dried mint and sage. The tannins are grippy, slightly bitter, but enveloped by the concentrated ripe fruit flavours. The finish is long, with a pronounced tannic edge and positive bitterness as well as juicy fruit notes. Good balance overall and good ageing potential.
