The wine has a ruby colour of medium intensity. The nose offers a lot of freshness and juiciness. It expresses notes of ripe red and black fruits (Morello cherry, wild strawberry, red currant, red cherry, blueberry), candied fruits (Morello cherry and red currant jam) with a subtle, but pronounced smoked meat note. After aeration the wine offers spicy notes of liquorice, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, as well as herbal and floral touches of peppermint, dried blueberry and rose, fresh rosemary and star anise. On the palate, the wine has a firm structure, with grippy, somewhat coarse and dry tannins. The flavours are fruity and juicy, with a salivating acidity that helps balance the drying tannins. The wine expresses notes of ripe red and black fruits (Morello cherry, red currant, red cherry, blackberry, blueberry, red currant, raspberry coulis), fresh flowers (cornflower, peony) and dried herbs (peppermint, thyme), accompanied by fine spicy notes of cinnamon, white pepper and liquorice. On the finish, the wine offers juiciness and a lively acidity that softens the drying tannic quality. Good length and sapidity on the lingering finish.
