The nose is fine, concentrated, intense and deep. There are notes of morello cherry and vanilla. There is also a pinch of smoke. The barrel is extremely well integrated on this vintage using a single cooper. The second nose is smokier, woodier and this highlights another side of the fruit. We perceive a hint of zan. The palate is ample with a round attack. There is a powerful, almost drying tannin structure. And yet, there is always an airy side brought by the fruit: cherry, crunchy raspberry, blackberry skin. There is even an imperceptible hint of sap in the background. The finish has a little bitterness which contributes to the complexity, and we have a long note of cherry and blackberry to conclude the tasting.
