Domaine Grosbois Montet 2021 – Chinon

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity and very light garnet reflections. We feel density, even a velvety texture on the nose, notes of ripe fresh fruits and touches of roasted fruits: wild strawberry, fresh morello cherry, roasted morello cherry, dried blackcurrant and crushed raspberry, associated with a savoury herbaceous hint (roasted thyme, roasted rosemary, peppermint), as well as spicy touches (white pepper, ground cumin in the background). After aeration, we also find a delicate scent of violet. The palate is tight, even firm on the attack and expresses the tannic and slightly bitter flavors of bird cherry and cranberries. The wine opens up more in the mid-palate: we find notes of ripe morello cherry, dried blackcurrant, red cherry and crushed raspberry, combined with notes of roasted aromatic herbs (roasted thyme, roasted rosemary), as well as a touch of blackcurrant leaf and dried mint in the background. We also find a fine spiciness (white pepper) and a hint of violet in the background. The tannins have a fine grain and a good structure, slightly grippy on the finish, but not drying. Beautiful refreshing acidity, a good bitterness on the persistence. Good length.
