Domaine Fabrice Vigot Vieilles Vignes 2022 – Nuits Saint-Georges

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is fragrant, warm and enveloping, with lots of fruit and a savoury spiciness. It expresses the aromas of crushed strawberries, juicy morello cherries, red currant jelly and roasted red cherries. After aeration, the wine offers notes of black pepper, liquorice and ground cumin, associated with aromas of torrefaction (coffee, toasted hazelnut, toasted wood in the background), as well as roasted aromatic herbs (thyme, rosemary), a touch of dark chocolate, dried cherry and dried rose. The palate is stretched, tense and structured, with a warm and ripe fruity substance. It expresses flavors of roasted fruit at the start (roasted red cherry, roasted raspberry), ripe morello cherry, crushed strawberry and dried cherry, a hint of black plum and roasted herbs (roasted thyme and rosemary). The mid-palate is powdery and chocolatey, with flavors of morello cherry in chocolate, cocoa and prunes in chocolate in the background. We also find notes of coffee and a delicate bitterness of toasted almond. The tannins are grippy, firm, but not dry, well enveloped in the fruit and balanced by the salivating acidity. Nice freshness and persistence with a good bitterness of chocolate and a spicy touch of black pepper and liquorice.
