Domaine du Petit Pérou Côte du Py, Indigène 2021 – Morgon

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is fragrant, complex and savoury. It expresses the gourmet notes of roasted meat, smoke, roasted bouquet garni, a delicate touch of torrefaction (toasted hazelnut, coffee in the background) and bitter cocoa, a subtle and integrated spiciness (liquorice with a touch of anise, coconut nutmeg, white pepper, roasted vanilla in the background), a delicate minerality (graphite), as well as a note of fresh peony and dried mint. We also find aromas of ripe and juicy fruits: morello cherry, wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, blueberry and black plum in the background. The palate is airy, juicy and finely spicy. It expresses notes of red cherry, fresh strawberry, crushed raspberry, cranberry juice, as well as crushed blueberry and black plum in the background, combined with a delicate spiciness (white pepper, liquorice, nutmeg), a floral bouquet (dried rose, peony) and herbaceous (dried mint, fresh tobacco) touch, as well as a delicate minerality on the finish. The tannins are tight and structured, but not drying. Good persistence on the palate with salivating acidity, smoky notes and a slight bitterness. Good aging potential.
