Domaine du Grand Tinel 2021 – Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Domaine du Grand Tinel 2021 – Châteauneuf-du-Pape

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is discreet at first and requires aeration. It then expresses notes of roasted fruit and dried fruit, with a touch of fresh fruit. We find the aromas of dried red cherry, roasted red cherry, fresh morello cherry, prunes, quetsche plum, as well as blackcurrant, red plum and dried wild strawberry. On the second nose, we also find aromas of dried herbs (dried mint, dried rosemary, dried bay leaf, thyme), associated with a touch of dried cornflower, an earthy mineral touch, as well as spiciness and torrefaction (nutmeg, white pepper, liquorice, coffee, toasted almond). The palate is supple, with a gourmand, voluminous attack, but fruity and fresh. It expresses notes of morello cherry (or even amarena cherry), crushed wild strawberry, strawberry jam, raspberry coulis, prunes, dried cherry, as well as dark chocolate, prunes in chocolate, liquorice, black pepper, nutmeg, dried mint, garrigue, bay leaf and dried rosemary, combined with an mineral earthy touch, sweet tobacco and dried flowers. The tannins are powerful, a little grippy, with a firm structure, which brings verticality to the wine. The finish is persistent, spicy and slightly bitter (coffee, dark chocolate), fleshy and warming (the alcohol level is present), balanced by a good level of acidity.
