The wine has a pale ruby colour. The nose expresses pleasant herbal notes (menthol, peppermint) and lots of ripe, fresh and roasted fruit. There are notes of fresh, roasted Morello cherry, crushed strawberry, raspberry coulis, blue plum and blackberry, as well as a touch of toast, cinnamon, liquorice, clove and white pepper. In the background, there are delicate floral notes of dried rose petals, cornflower and peony. On the palate, the wine has firmness and a solid tannic structure. The tannins are powerful, grippy and a little raspy, softened by a salivating acidity. There are flavours of tart black fruits (Morello cherry, blueberry, black plum, blackcurrant) and fresh red fruits (strawberry, red currant), a herbaceous (cut grass, dried mint) and spicy (liquorice, clove) edge and a fine note of bitter chocolate. The finish is persistent, with positive bitterness and dried herb flavours (mint and dried thyme). Good sapidity and freshness on the palate.
