Domaine de Couillohe 2003 – Bas-Armagnac

(44.6%. Bottled 01/2024) The nose is elegant, captivating, enveloping and offers a certain gourmandise as well as distinction. It reveals delicate notes of rancio, tobacco and small notes of orangette associated with a touch of Zante currant, hints of citron, saffron (on its flowery side) as well as fine hints of tarte tatin and dried kumquat. The palate is nicely structured, fruity, elegant, gourmand, precise and offers juiciness, a very nice balance as well as a lovely delicacy. A beautiful, mellow and elegant grain. On the palate this Armagnac expresses notes of bright kumquat, marmalade and small notes of dried orange associated with a touch of candied lemon, rancio, tobacco, citron as well as a hint of dried yellow apple, bread spices, honey and a subtle almost pâtisseries hint in the background. Lovely harmony and gourmandise.
