Domaine Boucabeille, a genuine, under the radar producer, has a mere 28 hectares of vines on the schist slopes of the Forca Real hill, near Perpignan. These hills had outstanding vines and were recognized for their quality and potential hundreds of years ago. However, they’ve been abandoned until Jean Boucabeille took on the task of bringing back these prized vineyard 30 years ago. Made of Roussanne and Grenache Blanc, les Orris Blanc is marked but great freshness, but also richly fruity and richly textured. With its notes of acacia, pear blossom, pure vanilla and its clear schist influence, it has a great balance of creamy texture and elegant freshness.
