Domaine Baudon, Les Terres Blanches 2022 – Montagne Saint-Emilion

(100% Merlot, 15% whole bunches) The wine has a deep ruby color. The nose offers density, a silky and textured side. It expresses notes of juicy morello cherry, black plum, wild blackberry, wild strawberry and a sweet hint of red cherry jam. There is also a fine spiciness (liquorice, nutmeg), toasted and herbaceous (toasted hazelnut, ripe stalk), which brings a fine touch of roasted aromatic herbs, dry pine needles and toasted wood in the background), as well as fresh tobacco and flowers (violet, cornflower). The palate is fresh, subtly mineral, fruity and tangy. It expresses notes of morello cherry, black plum, blackberry, strawberry, red cherry jam, as well as roasted aromatic herbs (bouquet garnie), dried mint, tobacco, a toasted touch of delicate and enveloped hazelnut, as well as a touch of violet and dried blackcurrant leaf on the persistence. The finish is quite long, with a gourmand acidity of red cherry, a slight bitterness and a firm but enveloped tannin texture.
