Diego Morra, Barolo Zinzasco 2020 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is discreet and requires aeration. It expresses notes of aromatic herbs (roasted thyme, dry bay leaf), a touch of pepper, as well as notes of sweet spices (nutmeg, a touch of cardamom and liquorice), flowers (lily, dried rose), associated with aromas of juicy fresh fruits (bigarreau cherry with a hint of morello cherry, crunchy strawberry, raspberry, a touch of elderberries), as well as a herbaceous hint in the background (dried mint, tobacco). The palate offers a fine and enveloping texture of tannins, good bitterness, salivating acidity, as well as the gourmandise of fruits. It expresses notes of ripe fruit (red cherry, morello cherry, a touch of strawberry, crushed raspberry and blueberry), associated with touches of sweet spices (white pepper, cardamom, liquorice), with a fine herbaceous side (mint , bay leaf, roasted thyme) and floral (dried rose, lily), as well as a hint of torrefaction in the background (toasted hazelnut). The finish is supple, gourmand and fruity, with good bitterness and a persistent but savoury tanginess (cherry in chocolate).
