Diego Morra, Barolo San Lorenzo di Verduno 2019 – Barolo

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The first nose is subtle, delicately perfumed and expresses floral notes of rose, lilac and iris, associated with light notes of sweet spices, which complete the bouquet with savoury touches of nutmeg, ground cardamom and liquorice. After aeration, we find notes of roasted red cherry, juicy morello cherry, blueberry, crushed raspberry and black plum, associated with aromas of wild mint, bay leaf, roasted thyme, coffee in the background and dark chocolate. The palate is tense, but offers a beautiful enveloping fruitiness and a lively acidity, which balances a tight structure of tannins. It expresses notes of dried red cherry, juicy morello cherry, chocolate cherry, black plum, blueberry and crushed raspberry, combined with touches of sweet spices (cardamom, nutmeg), aromatic herbs (roasted thyme, bay leaf) and flowers (dried rose, lilac), as well as a gourmet touch of mint chocolate in the background. The finish is juicy and fruity, with liveliness and nice acidity, which balances the firm tannin structure and a slight bitterness.
