Demarie 2020 – Barolo

Demarie 2020 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The first nose is fragrant and delicious and expresses notes of ripe fruit (wild strawberry, raspberry, morello cherry, red cherry jam, blueberry, dried cranberries), complemented in the second nose by a savoury spiciness (liquorice, nutmeg grated cumin, Sarawak pepper), notes of dark chocolate and torrefaction (toasted almond, a slight touch of coffee), as well as a fine herbaceous and floral notes (peony, rose, dried mint, mint chocolate). The palate offers roundness and suppleness on the attack, structure and tannic firmness in the mid-palate, as well as a bit drying tannins on the finish. We find gourmet notes of juicy morello cherry, red cherry jam, wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, wild blackberry and blueberry, associated with sweet touches of chocolate cherry, notes of sweet spices (liquorice, cumin, vanilla in the background, a hint of pepper), peppermint, sweet tobacco and fresh flowers (peony, rose). The finish is quite persistent, gourmand, chocolatey and fruity, with a nice acidity which balances the slightly dry, but fine, sapid and powdery tannins.
