Delord – Récolte 1995 – Bas-Armagnac

(bottled in April 2025) 40% The nose is elegant, racy, deep and offers a fine elegant austerity, a toasted side, complexity as well as a good definition. There are notes of marmalade, dried orange and small notes of dried plum associated with touches of pâtisseries, toasted almond as well as a hint of pepper and discreet hints of crème brûlée. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, nicely-built and offers minerality, elegance, a certain juiciness, roundness, a good definition, a certain precision, a firm side as well as a certain small concentration. A discreetly tight grain. On the palate, this Armagnac expresses notes of dried orange, mandarin marmalade, and small notes of crushed apple combined with a touch of candied pear, caramelization, toasted almonds, pâtisseries, rancio, and a hint of gray pepper, almost juniper berries, and spices. A subtle tannic hint on the finish/persistence. Beautiful peppery and gourmande persistence. A masterful Armagnac.
