Delaplane Cellars – Viognier 2023 – Virginia

(bottled 02/2024, tasted 07/2024) The nose is fruity, gourmand and offers a fine concentration as well as a certain deepness. It reveals notes of mirabelle plum, yellow peach and small notes of juicy small yellow fruits associated with a hint of ripe pineapple as well as a discreet hint of verbena / sap / hawthorn flowers. The palate is nicely juicy, fruity, gourmand and offers unctuosity in precision, suavity as well as a tangy frame. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy / pulpy yellow peach, mirabelle plum and small notes of pineapple associated with fine touches of juicy / pulpy lemon as well as fine hints of vanilla, butter and a subtle hint of sense of place (local biotope) / sap. Good length. Beautiful slightly toasted persistence. A beautifully textured, round, delicate and gourmandwine .
