Darius II 2021 – Napa Valley

The first nose is minty and offers a fresh, gourmand and very ripe fruits (cassis, blueberry, morello cherry, wild strawberry) and a slight tertiary hint (tobacco, dry undergrowth) and mineral (gravel, rock, dry earth), as well as notes of aromatic herbs (dried mint, dry bay leaf, rosemary, black tea), and spices (cardamom box, vanilla, licorice, cinnamon). The flavors on the palate reflect the fruits on the nose (wild strawberry, cassis, blueberry, fresh morello cherry, black plum) and complete the profile with the toasted, grilled, smoky, spicy side (cardamom box, vanilla, licorice, cinnamon) as well as notes of toasted dried fruits (toasted hazelnut, toasted cashew nut) and herbs (cassis leaf, black tea, tobacco). The structure of tannins is tight, but the texture is very fine. The acidity is mouth-watering and offers a lovely minty freshness on the finish. A slender, straight, and precise wine.
