COS D’ESTOURNEL 2022 – Saint-Estèphe, Grand Cru Classé

COS D’ESTOURNEL 2022 – Saint-Estèphe, Grand Cru Classé

The nose is very gourmand with a beautiful concentration, depth and airiness at the same
time. The first nose is rich in spices, associated with gourmet chocolate and spicy hints
(liquorice, fresh vanilla, cardamom, ground nutmeg, a hint of clove). The fruits are ripe and
fresh, with a refined tanginess (blackcurrant, morello cherry, juicy bigarreau cherry,
redcurrants, crushed raspberry, tangy strawberry), flowers (violet, peony, wild rose) and
fresh and roasted aromatic herbs (fresh rosemary, roasted thyme, plus an airiness of thyme
flower), a very elegant toasted note – hazelnut, wood and coffee. The palate is tight, solid,
with finesse of the grain of tannins and a lot of freshness. It expresses the flavors of
blackcurrant, morello cherry, juicy bigarreau cherry, crushed raspberry, tart strawberry fruits, complemented by the bitterness of bird cherry and cocoa, an elegant herbaceous hint of stalk, dried blackcurrant leaf, fresh vanilla, cardamom, clove, with the dominance of
liquorice, as well as a fragrant floral bouquet: violet, peony, wild rose, especially on the
persistence. An accurate, precise wine, restrained and closed at the moment, but with a lot
of potential. The wine needs time to open up.
