Conterno Fantino Ginestra Vigna Sorì Ginestra 2021 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is reserved at first and requires aeration. It then expresses notes of red cherry, cranberries, raspberry, a touch of fresh cherry, as well as a tangy frame of bitter citrus fruits (grapefruit, bergamot). We also find herbaceous and spicy notes, especially menthol (peppermint, a touch of menthol, licorice with a hint of cardamom), as well as a touch of pine needles, a fine floral bouquet (fresh rose, fresh peony), as well as notes of fresh almond, fresh wood in the background (with a sappy touch) and very delicate notes of cocoa and coffee. On the palate, the wine is firm, straight, and has tight, powdery and slightly bitter tannins (bitterness of bergamot and cocoa), which can be felt from the start. It then expresses notes of tart red cherry, cranberries, raspberry and tart red currants, combined with woody and sappy notes (fresh wood, pine needles, a hint of pine sap), as well as floral and spicy touches (fresh rose, a hint of peony, liquorice, cardamom). Fine toasted and chocolatey touches (coffee, cocoa), as well as a hint of hay appear on the persistence. Good length with salivating acidity and a sapidity that balances the dry side of Tannins. A closed wine, but with good potential.
