Clos Vieux Taillefer 2021 – Pomerol

Clos Vieux Taillefer 2021 – Pomerol

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. At first nose the aromas are a bit tight, but the wine benefits from aeration. It expresses notes of morello cherry, fresh red cherry and jam, wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, black plum and wild blackberry, associated with notes of prunes in chocolate (in the background), peppermint, menthol, even eucalyptus, which appear after aeration. We also find a fine spiciness (liquorice, even star anise, vanilla, white pepper, nutmeg), an elegant floral bouquet (fresh rose, fresh cornflower, violet), a hint of chocolate with mint and discreet woody notes (smoke, toasted wood, toasted hazelnut), accompanied by a fine minerality (clay). The palate is enveloping and juicy, with notes of ripe fruit (morello cherry, blackberry, crushed wild strawberry, black plum, blueberry jam), chocolate and sweet spices (vanilla, liquorice, white pepper, nutmeg). We also find notes of menthol, peppermint, cornflower and violet, combined with a fine touch of toasted hazelnut in the background. The tannins are well structured, a little grippy, but sapid, powdery and not dry. Good length with a pleasant bitterness and refreshing acidity. A gourmand and straightforward wine.
