Clos Saint-Martin 2022 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Grand Cru Classé

The nose is racy, fresh, with spices and a certain depth. It benefits from being decanted. It reveals notes of wild blackberry, smoke, and slight hints of cardamom, associated with touches of small wild black berries, black pepper, and discreet hints of clove. A subtle touch of almost “warm grove” completes the ensemble. The palate is beautifully juicy, fruity and balanced, with a mineral frame, tanginess, energy and a certain fat, although currently a little tight. We perceive notes of crushed blackcurrant, fresh/tangy boysenberry, and violet, associated with touches of lily, sap, clove, tobacco, as well as a hint of toasted almond and vanilla. Good length, with a discreet powdery hint on the finish. Tannins are mellow.
