Clos du Roi, Pinot Noir 2022 – Bourgogne Coulanges La Vineuse

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose expresses pronounced cherry notes (juicy morello cherry, ripe bigarreau cherry, a hint of red cherry jam), as well as juicy strawberry, crushed raspberry, wild blackberry, blueberry and redcurrant jelly, associated with a fine floral bouquet (peony, lilac, cornflower), a touch of spice (white pepper, liquorice) and minerality (limestone), as well as a very slight herbaceous note of mint. The palate offers straightness, freshness, a fresh fruity substance, as well as a fine spiciness. It expresses the flavors of bigarreau cherry, slightly bitter cranberries, tangy raspberry, crushed cassis, crushed blueberry, associated with notes of white pepper, liquorice, a mineral (limestone) and floral touch (peony, wild rose). The finish is precise, and expresses a salivating acidity, a fine grain (even powdery and cocoa) of tannins, the tangy side of bigarreau cherry, as well as a peppery, herbaceous (rosemary) and slightly smoky touch on the finish.
