Clos du Roi, Pinot Noir 2012 – Bourgogne Coulanges La Vineuse

Clos du Roi, Pinot Noir 2012 – Bourgogne Coulanges La Vineuse

The wine has a pale garnet color. The nose is discreet at first and requires aeration. It then expresses tertiary notes: undergrowth, wilted flowers and dried flowers (wilted rose, dried rose, wilted peony), dried mushrooms, wet leaves, associated with notes of dried fruit (dried strawberry, dried raspberry), a touch of fresh fruit (crushed strawberry, crushed raspberry) and fruit jam (cherry jam, raspberry coulis). We also find fine herbaceous notes (fresh tobacco, roasted bouquet garni) and spicy hints (ground cumin, licorice stick), as well as a delicate minerality (graphite, limestone) and a touch of cocoa. The palate is elegant, supple and silky, with a less pronounced tertiary notes than on the nose, and which returns especially at the end of the palate (notes of undergrowth, damp leaves and wilted flowers). We also find roundness and gourmandise of the fruit: dried (dried strawberry, dried raspberry), jam (cherry jam), crushed strawberry, as well as a touch of tobacco and dried aromatic herbs (dried bouquet garni). The tannins are melted and almost imperceptible. Good acidity and good length which expresses a fine spicy side (cumin). An evolved wine, with fairly present tertiary notes, on delicacy and complexity.
