Clos des Jacobins 2022 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Grand Cru Classé

The nose is nicely racy and offers depth, elegant darkness, an infusion side as well as an airy side in its power. We find notes of blond tobacco, small wild black berries and graphene associated with touches of black plum, sage/infusion as well as discreet hints of lilac and spices. The palate is nicely structured, fruity with freshness, juiciness and a fresh tangy frame with nice definition, tension and purity. The limestone terroir is nicely marked. There is an elegant darkness. We have notes of wild blackcurrant, small juicy/pulpy black berry and slight notes of black tea associated with touches of juicy roasted raspberry as well as hints of blond tobacco, graphene and cardamom. Tannins are mellow and elegant. There is a nice acidity which brings bite. The wine is powerful and delicate with an airy character. Good length with mellow persistence.
