Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2010 – Pessac-Léognan, Grand Cru Classé de Graves

The nose is elegant, powerful, racy and offers complexity as well as a fine grain. It reveals notes of wild cassis, small wild black berries, small notes of small ripe blue fruits associated with touches of blueberry, cornflower, violet as well as hints of liquorice, cardamom, chocolate, discreet hints of mushroom/truffle and a very discreet hint of pepper. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a fine acidulous frame, a beautiful definition, tension as well as a beautiful freshness, tension, concentration (but without opulence), suavity, fullness, a beautiful juiciness, minerality, finesse of the grain, density, a beautiful flesh and a beautiful finesse of the grain. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy/ripe cassis, wild blackberry, small notes of cornflower, small pulpy blue fruits associated with touches of blueberry as well as hints of violet plum, lilac, chocolate, caramelization and a very discreet hint of fresh truffle (in the background).
