The nose is tightly wound and offers power as well as intensity. There are notes of wild blackberry, ripe wild berry and more slightly black pepper with hints of crushed wild berries, a fine touch of liquorice, iris and a subtle hint of bergamot and a very discreet almost sappy edge. The palate is fruity and offers freshness, energy and tension. On the palate this wine expresses juicy/pulpy blackberry, crunchy/fresh blackcurrant and more slightly fresh/juicy black plum notes combined with hints of crushed raspberry, fairly ripe berries (even a hint of over-ripeness) as well as fine hints of star anise, chocolate and a subtle tea note. The tannins are fine, tightly wound and mellow.
