Château Roquefort, Grande Cuvée 2022 – Bordeaux Supérieur

Château Roquefort, Grande Cuvée 2022 – Bordeaux Supérieur

The wine has a deep ruby color. The initial nose is toasty and concentrated, but needs aeration to open up. It then expresses aromas of crushed strawberry, morello cherry in chocolate, ripe red cherry (even with a hint of cherry jam), crushed raspberry, black plum and blackcurrant in the background. There are also notes of cocoa, toasted wood, toasted hazelnut, liquorice, a slight hint of vanilla and nutmeg as well as a floral scent of violet in the background. The palate is juicy, concentrated and fleshy, while remaining fresh. The attack is rich and chocolatey, with notes of morello cherry in chocolate and mint chocolate. It then expresses notes of wild strawberry, red cherry, crushed raspberry, black plum and blackcurrant. The mid-palate reveals woody (toasted wood, toasted hazelnut) and spicy (licorice, a hint of black pepper, vanilla and nutmeg) notes, complemented by a floral hint of violet and herbs, dried mint. The tannins are tight, grippy and solid, slightly dry, but balanced by a mouthwatering acidity. Beautiful structure and good aging potential.
