Château Léoville Poyferré 2011 – Saint-Julien, 2ème Grand Cru Classé

Château Léoville Poyferré 2011 – Saint-Julien, 2ème Grand Cru Classé

The nose offers intensity, a little power (in control) as well as concentration. It reveals notes of cassis, camphor and slight hint of pepper associated with touches of ripe red fruit, a hint of charcoal as well as waft of vanilla and toasted almond. The palate is nicely fresh, elegant, racy and offers a nice fresh frame, a slightly tight grain a racy and discreetly tight tannic frame. This wine expresses notes of pulpy blackberry, pulpy / juicy raspberry and more slightly of black berries associated with touches of tonka bean, toasted almond, coffee as well as a subtle hint of crushed hazelnut and a very discreet hint of vanilla. Good length. Tannins are precise and finely mellow. A certain sapidity on the finish / persistence.
