Château Le Virou – Sublimus 2023 – Côtes de Blaye

Beautiful powerful nose (but in control) and which offers a peppery side as well as concentration in accuracy. An airy side in its power. We find notes of dense blackberry, concentrated blackcurrant and small notes of small red fruits (with a Mediterranean accent) associated with touches of star anise, a subtle hint of fresh tobacco as well as a discreet hint of violet/gray pepper. The palate is beautifully mellow, fresh, supple, pulpy and offers a graphite/graphene side, roundness as well as material. A nice texture all in accuracy and with an airy side. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, bright purple plum and small notes of bright small fruits associated with a touch of roasted-juicy red fruits, fine hints of racy minerality, tonka bean/chocolate and toasted almond. A discreet hint of good bitterness, subtly sappy which keeps the taste buds awake and revives this finish.
