Château Laforge 2021 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Château Laforge 2021 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is a bit reserved and discreet. After aeration it expresses notes of red cherry, strawberry, crushed raspberry, black plum, blackberry and morello cherry in chocolate, associated with touches of sweet spices (liquorice, vanilla, ground cumin), sweet tobacco, peppermint (or even menthol), as well as lilac, peony and torrefaction (toasted, even caramelised hazelnut, toasted wood in the background). On the palate, the attack is round and supple, the mid-palate is tighter and expresses a rather firm tannin structure. The flavors are concentrated and juicy: we find in particular notes of black plum, blackberry, morello cherry in chocolate, wild strawberry, associated with touches of sweet spices (vanilla, liquorice, a hint of ground cumin), dark chocolate, as well as notes of peppermint, sweet tobacco and slightly sweet floral touches (iris, peony). The finish is quite persistent and savoury, with gourmet notes of chocolate and red plum, combined with a good bitterness of coffee. The acidity is fresh and salivating. A balanced, airy wine, with a beautiful fruity substance.
