The nose is racy and shows some elegance, a fine grain and a powerful and pungent side. There are notes of crushed wild blackberry, fairly ripe berries and a hint of clove, combined with hints of violet, wild strawberry and hints of crushed red berries, spice, fresh tobacco, subtle balsamic and pepper. The palate is fruity and reveals minerality, a certain pulpiness of the fruit, volume, roundness, and an acidic backbone. On the palate this wine expresses juicy/pulpy blackberry, raspberry and more slightly bright cherry notes combined with hints of violet, liquorice, zan, nutmeg as well as fine nuances of racy minerality (almost iodine/saline), toasted almond, vanilla and tonka bean. The tannins are massive and mellow.
